The chart demonstrates the proportion of households with Internet access in four different income groups in one European area after 15 years.
Overall, it is noticeable that the wealthy commonly access the Internet, while those with the lowest income lagged behind. Moreover, internet access increased steadily across all income groups over the period.
In 2005, approximately 60 percent of high-income households had internet access( the highest figure among all groups), followed by a gradual increase and reaching about 99% by 2020. In contrast, the low-income families had internet access, making up only 10 percent of total households in 2005, followed by a sharp increase to approximately 60 percent at the end of the period.
Both lower-middle and upper-middle income groups witnessed a sharp growth, with 79% and 90%, respectively, after nearly 2 decades. 20% of the initial lower-middle section experienced sharp growth to roughly 80 percent from 2005 to 2020, whereas at the same commencement time, the greater proportion of the upper-middle group stood at 30 percent.
