The line graph gives information on the percentage of households having Internet access from 2000 to 2020 in 4 countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India).
Overall, in all four countries the share of households has risen over the twenty-year period. However, India saw the lowest increase among all nations.
It is seen from the chart that each country started with the proportion of households with access to the Internet under 20%. By 2005, the USA experienced the highest increase from around 15% to more than 40%; in the meantime, the percentage in other nations gradually rose, with India having the lowest numbers. A steady rise continued for another 10 years, with the US having the largest percentage of slightly less than 100 in 2015. The UK and Australia were keeping up with the US, with the proportions exceeding 80% and 60% respectively.
In the last phase of the given period (2015-2020), the proportion of households with the Internet almost leveled off in the US at around 100%. In other countries, there was a more sharp upward trend. In the UK and Australia, it rose up to 90% in 2020, while in India, the percentage only exceeded 20% despite a dramatic increase in the last 5 years.
