The bar chart shows the proportion of the two genders teacher in six different types of educational setting in the UK in 2010.
In three out of six types, female outnumbered male. The female teachers made up a particular large proportion of the teacher in the basic education: Nurseries/Pre-schools, Primary schools and Secondary schools. The gender gap is significant in Nurseries/Pre-schools and Primary schools. Considering the same situation, Secondary schools’ gender gap is much lower than Nurseries/Pre-schools and Primary schools.
The only educational setting with both genders equally represented is in colleges. Man outnumbered woman in Private training institute and Universities. In Private training institute, male teachers are about 55% and female teachers are about 4. This difference is bigger in universities (roughly 70% male vs. 30% females).
Overall, the chart shows that in these types of educational settings, female teachers are concentrated in basic education and male outnumbered female in the higher education.
