The given bar chart depicts the proportion of men and women in five nations, namely Japan, United States, Switzerland, Britain, and Germany who pursued tertiary education in the year 2001.
Overall, it can be seen that Germany and Switzerland exhibited the highest percentages of male and female graduates. In addition, it is also obvious that while the number of graduated females outperformed the figure for graduated males in United States and Germany, the opposite was true for the remaining countries.
In terms of men obtaning degrees, United States, Britain and Germany shared the same number (35%), which was the lowest. In contrast, male individuals who attained higher education qualifications were mostly from Switzerland, making up 45 per cent of Switzerland men and higher than that of Japan 5 per cent.
At the same time, Germany had the most women achieving tertiary education, which was 45 percent. Conversely, the least number of graduated females was from Japan (25%). The amount of individuals who gained degrees took up 40 per cent of American females, which was also the second highest number in this category. Additionally, there were 30 percent of women from Britain possessed higher educations, lower than the figure for Switzerland 5 percent.
