The pie charts show how water is used in different sectors across six regions: North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
The data shows that in Central Asia, Africa, Southeast Asia, and North America, most of the water is used for farming. However, in South America and Europe, the industrial sector uses the most water.
Looking closer, Central Asia has the highest percentage of water used for agriculture at 88%, followed by Africa at 84%, Southeast Asia at 81%, and South America at 71%. On the other hand, North America and Europe use 39% and 53% of their water for agriculture.
North America and Europe are the top users of water in the industrial sector, with 46% and 32% of their water used for industry, while the other regions only use between 5% and 12% for this purpose.
For household use, South America leads with 19%, followed by Europe with 15% and North America with 13%. Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia all use less than 10% of their water for domestic purposes.
