The bar chart illustrates how the percentage of individuals who expressed interest in six different sports- including football, swimming, rugby, snooker, tennis and golf changed between 1995, 2000 and 2005.
Overall, it is evident that football attracted the highest level of interest across three years, while rugby and golf were less popular. In addition, interest in most kinds of sports experienced an upward trend, except for football, swimming and rugby.
In 1995, the football’s share dominated the ranking with approximately 40% before increasing constantly to roughly 45% after a decade. Similarly, rugby grew gradually from roughly 25% and finished at approximately 27% after declining slightly to around 18% in 2000. Meanwhile, swimming attracted the least attention in 1995, at over 22% then peaked at close to 30% before declining to approximately 25% at the end.
By contrast, snooker followed football’s share with precisely 30% initially, which was slightly higher than tennis’s proportion. Nevertheless, while the figure for snooker fluctuated and concluded at around 22% at the end, that for tennis remained unchanged at nearly 21% in the final five years. Golf showed a slight fluctuation around 27% to 25% throughout the period.
