Overall, USA had the highest population of immigrants in both periods, while UK and India had the lowest. The proportion of migrants share was the least in India. Notably, only Russia stayed relatively unchanged.
The number of immigrants in USA accounted for approximately 35 millions in 2000, which increased sharply to reach a peak of 50 millions in 2020. Germany had just below 10 million immigrants in 2000, which increased slightly to roughly 12 millions in the next two decades.
In contrast, India and United Kingdom recorded about 5million and 3million immigrants in 2000. While UK number surged slightly to 10 millions in 2020, India fell marginally to about 3.5 millions. Meanwhile, Russia stayed at just over 10 millions in both years.
In 2020, Germany and Uk had the highest population of migrants at 14.7% and 14% respectively, whereas USA and Germany were just below at 13.5% and 8.1%. Lastly, India had the lowest migrant share of just 0.4%.
