The chart depicts the proportion of visitors traveling to wide-ranging destinations in Scotland, consisting of Aquarium, Castle, Zoo, and Festival between 1980 and 2010.
Overall, it is clearly seen that there was a downward trend in visitors travelling to Aquarium and Festival, while Castel and Zoo witnessed an opposite trend over the given period. Furthermore, Castle was the most attractive recreation from 1990 onwards.
Looking at the chart in more detail, it is evident that the proportion of travellers visiting Aquarium stood at 20% in 1980 and increased significantly to 35%, which reached the highest percentage in 1985. But this figure then dropped back to its initial value in 1990 before plummeting to just under 10% at the end. Similarly, Festival started at 30% in 1980, then saw a consistent decline throughout the period, ending with the lowest percentage among the four attractions.
On the other hand, both Castle and Zoo showed a different trend. The ratio of tourists travelling to Castel was around 25% in 1980 and reached a peak at 45% in 1995. However, in 1995, despite a slight decline afterward, it remained the most popular attraction, finishing at nearly 40% in 2010, Meanwhile, Zoo attracted only 10% of visitors in 1980 but experienced gradual growth, reaching 15% in 1985. After fluctuating slightly, it rose significantly to 20% by 2010, surpassing Aquarium and Festival in popularity.
