Presented graph shows amount of three types of fast food consumed by teenagers in Mauritius between 1985 and 2015.
First catching attention trend is rapid and quite linear decrease of pizza consumption. Second change visible in the chart is very dynamic growth of popularity of fried chicken and hamburgers.
In starting year of 1985, pizza was being consumed 60 times a year while other junk foods were being eaten 10 and less times. However, teenagers started changing their habits and in year 2000 every kind out of three meals was picked around 40 times a year. Decrease of pizza choices was quite steady and seemed as following: 55 times in 1990, 47 times in 1995, 40 times in 2000, 30 times in 2005, 18 times in 2010 and finally 10 times a year in 2015.
At the same time, hamburgers were taking off with stable, yet very dynamic increase. In 1985 they were chosen 10 times a year, than 20 times in 1990, 28 in 1995, 25 in 2000, 45 times in 2005, 55 in 2010 and finally 70 times in 2015, which makes them the most popular fast food. The growth of hamburgers makes nearly perfect straight line on the graph. Fried chicken was growing even quicker between 1995 and 2005, but experienced slowdown after. This fast food started in 1985 as consumed 5 times a year, than 10 times in 1990, 20 times in 1995, 40 times in 2000, which made it equal with pizza and continued its increase to 60 in 2005. Than there was a stagnation until 2010. Between 2010 and 2015 fried chicken managed to become more popular and was consumed about 63 times a year.
