The bar chart compares the distribution of executives by gender across six widely different career settings from Advertising to Law in UK in 2007.
Looking from an overall perspective, in roughly half of the occupation given, genders were distributed equally. However, in traditionally gender-dominated jobs such as teaching, construction and therapists, gender gaps still exist.
From the outset, there were dramatically higher proportion of men in traditionally male-dominated fields of construction and science with male making up 90% and 60% of jobs respectively. On the contrary, only one in ten men hold positions in teaching jobs. The only field where they held the same number of positions with women was Journalism.
Looking specifically at female professions, women held more sits in stereotypical field such as teaching and therapy. Women dominated in these field accounting for 90% of all possible positions. In contrast, it is noteworthy to mention that they held only 10% of jobs in the male-dominated fields of construction.
