In 2004, TV and telephone shared the first place with approximately 93%. The following places were occupied by CD player, microwave, and clothes dryer, with 73%, 65%, and 59%, respectively. Moreover, only about 37% of households in Europe were recorded possessing home computer. Mobile phone and dishwasher ownership were the least, making up roughly 30% and 24%, in that order.
In 2008, while almost every households had a TV in their house, the possession of telephone slightly dropped to 91%. The figures for CD player, microwave, and clothes dryer significantly climbed to 76%, 70%, and 65%, respectively. Meanwhile, the percentage of home computer nearly doubled, reaching 75% of the total households in Europe. Similarly, the proportion of mobile phone rose dramatically, hitting 88% by the end of the period. At the bottom, the share of dishwasher increased to 30%.
