The line graph shows changes in the proportion of people accessing news from four different sources between 1995 and 2024, as well as future estimates for 2025. Overall, while the figures for TV, Radio, and Newspaper decreased and are expected to continue declining in the future, the reverse was true for the Internet, and it is also predicted for 2025. Furthermore, the share of people who accessed news from TV stood out among other sources, with higher figures in most of the period.
Radio and Newspaper followed somewhat similar patterns. Starting at about 55% in 1995, the figure for Newspaper dropped significantly to around 43% in 2010, and this was followed by a dramatic decline to just over 30% in 2020, after which it will go down noticeably in 2025, reaching just under 30%. Additionally, the figure for Radio started at about 53% in 1995, a figure that then fell considerably to around 42% in 2010. After decreasing significantly to about 29% in 2020, it will drop markedly further to around 23% in 2025.
TV and Newspaper, on the other hand, bucked the trend. The figure for Internet was 0% in 1995. There was a slight increase to about 1%, and this was followed by a sharp rise to nearly 30% in 2010, and then it will see a significant rise to around 55% in 2025. In contrast, the figure for TV decreased considerably from around 69% to about 58%. However, it witnessed a noticeably rise to almost 60% in 2010, after which it dropped further to around 51%, and it will be outstripped by the Internet in 2025.
