The chart illustrates how many minutes people in Finland made on telephone calls for three different types between 1995 and 2004.
Overall, people in Finland spent most of their time on local-landline calls, while mobiles saw the least. Moreover, local-landline telephone calls experienced an increase from 1995 to 2001 before dropping at the end of the period, whereas the others witnessed upward trends over the period.
Looking at the graph in more detail, in 1995, the number of minutes for local-landline calls in Finland was the highest in comparison to the other categories, at 12,000 million minutes. From 1995 to 2001, it saw a significant rise and reached a peak of around 17,000 million before declining sharply by about 7,000 million in the last four years of the period. However, local landlines still were the most popular category in Finland.
Taking national and international-landline calls into consideration, people in Finland spent about 6,000 million minutes on this type, one-half of the local-landline’s time, in 1995. Throughout the period, there was a slight growth in their number and by 2004, they had showed just over 10,000 million. In contrast, despite not being popular in 1995 with nearly zero minute, the figure for mobiles increased significantly over the period. There were just under 10,000 million minutes of mobile calls, similar to national and international landlines.
