The bar chart gives the total total number of minutes (in millions) of telephone calls in Finland, divided into three categories, from 1995 – 2004.
In general, local-landline telephonecall were stable. Meanwhile, national and international calls and mobile have increased significantly after 9 years.
According to the given figures, local- landline calls were the highest during the period, an increase of 12000 million minutes in 1995 to nearly 17000 million minutes in 2000. After reaching 17000 million minutes in the following year, these calls fell back to the number in 1995 in 2004. In addition, national and international phonecalls have climbed steadily from 6000 million to 10500 million at the end of the mentioned period, although the growth rate has slowed down in the past two years. Moreover, the number of mobile calls has grew significantly from 250 to 9800 million minutes. This growth was especially noticeable from 2000 to 2004, during that time the use of mobile phones tripled.
All in all, although domestic fixed phone calls are still the most common in 2004, the gap between the three types has been significantly narrowed in the second half of the mentioned period.
