Overall, the most common type of loan was fiction, both for children and adults, and the largest age group among library members was adults aged 18-64. Additionally, the number of loans showed a general upward trend over the ten-year period.
In 2016, adults between 18 and 64 made up the majority of library users, accounting for 51%. Children represented the second largest group at 22%, while young adults (13-17) and seniors (65 and over) each made up 14% and 13% respectively.
The most borrowed materials were children’s and adult fiction, each comprising 38% of total loans. Adult non-fiction was the next most popular category, at 13%, followed by children’s non-fiction (6%) and DVDs (4%). Young adult materials and adult audiobooks were the least borrowed, making up just 2% each.
Regarding the overall number of loans, the trend rose steadily from around 15,000 in 2007 to a peak of about 22,000 in 2011. Despite a slight dip in the following two years, the figures remained relatively stable and eventually rose again, reaching approximately 21,500 in 2016.
