The charts compare the age distribution of people traveling from Spain to the UK in two different years, 1983 and 2003.
Overall, the proportion of travelers aged 0-24 and those over 55 saw an upward trend over the 20-year period, while the percentage of individuals in the 25-54 age range declined.
Looking at the data in more detail, the youngest age group, 0-15, constituted 10% of travelers in 1983, rising marginally to 12% in 2003. The most significant increase was seen in the 16-24 age group, which, despite being the smallest segment initially at just 4%, experienced nearly a fourfold surge to 15% by 2003. Similarly, the percentage of elderly travelers aged 55 and above grew by 10%, indicating a rising interest in travel among this demographic.
Conversely, the proportion of middle-aged travelers experienced a notable decline. The 35-54 age group, which represented half of all travelers in 1983, saw a substantial drop to 35% in 2003. Meanwhile, the 25-34 age group also registered a decrease, falling from 20% to 12% over the two decades.
