The graph illustrates how much milk, cheese, butter, and milk powder was produced by the global top three producers of each product in 2012.
Overall, the European Union (EU) produced the most milk and cheese, while the highest numbers of butter and milk powder belonged to India and China respectively. Additionally, milk was the most produced dairy product, far outnumbering the other three, whereas milk powder was the least manufactured item.
The EU made the largest amount of milk, at 142,970 (MT), which was about 15,000 MT and 52,000 MT higher than India (127,000 MT) and the US (90,038 MT) respectively. In terms of cheese, the biggest output of 7,120 MT was manufactured by the EU, roughly 10 times Brazil (700 MT), while the US produced 4,925 MT.
Regarding butter, India was the top producer with 7,500 MT, roughly 3 times the collective figures of the EU (2,040 MT) and nine times that of the US (810 MT). Despite remaining in the top 3 worldwide manufacturers for milk powder, the EU fell behind China and New Zealand, producing a mere 770 MT, in comparison with China’s 1,200 MT and New Zealand’s 1,110 MT.
