The bar chart shows information about the rate of marriages and divorces in the USA over 30 years from 1970 to 2000 and the marital status of America’s adults in 1970 and 2000.
As can be seen at table 1, the marriage rate took the highest position and slightly decreased over 30 years. The table 2 shows us more information about marital status of adult Americans, and at a first glance, married adults still were in the highest position.
In 1970 and 1980, marriage rate stayed the same at 2.5 millions over 10 years. However, in 1990, it started dropping a little bit, form 2.5 millions to about 2.3 millions. And in 2000, it fell into 2 millions marriages in the USA. Similarly, the divorce rate almost stayed the same at 1 millions. In 1980, it increased a little to approximately 1.5 millions but in 1990 and 2000, it dropped to the same as the year 1970.
In 1970 and 2000, the married adults took the highest place, 70% of total in 1970 and 60% in 2000, it dropped a little bit from 70% to 60% over 30 years. By contrast, the divorced people were in the lowest position in two of the years but it slightly increased from approximately 0% in 1970 to nearly 10% 2000. The two other groups were also at low places but did not increase or decrease much over years.
