The pie charts illustrate the information about the four transport modes (cars, buses, bicycles, and walking) that is popular in Cambridge in 2008 and 2018. The units are measured in percentages.
Overall, these figures indicate a growing preference for cars, although their usage decreased dramatically after a decade. Whereas, in contrast, cycling and walking suggest a shift towards other types of transport, increasing significantly in 2018.
In 2008, cars dominated the rate totally, accounting for 42% of the total, and that was substantially more than buses, which was chosen by almost one-third (30%) of citizens. However, cycling and walking constituted minorities, 17% and 11%, respectively.
By contrast, after 10 years, there was a significant decline of 22%, from 42% to 20%, in the popularity of cars. The share of bicycles increased moderately to 30%, more than half of its previous level (17%). Nevertheless, the figures for buses fell slightly by 5%, from 30% to 25%, and shared an identical proportion with walking.
