The given pie charts illustrate the change in people’s most favorite transportation types in 2008 compared to 2018 in Cambridge, UK. The survey asked about four different modes of transport, which are cars, busses, bicycles and walking.
Overall, the two pie charts show how much the popularity of motorized transportation decreased in this city within ten years. Especially cars, which have been widely popular in 2008, lost more than half the votes in 2018. On the other hand, non-motorized transportation modes, in particular walking, gained around double from 2008 to 2018.
In 2008, cars were the most preferred way to move, used by 42% of people in Cambridge. Followed by busses, chosen by 30%. While bicycles and walking together did not reach a third of the votes (17% and 11%, respectively).
Whereas, in 2018, the poularity of cars dramatically declined by 22%, from 42% to only 20%.
On the other hand, the least chosen types of transportation in 2008 (bikes and feet), showed a significant increase from 17% to 30% and 11% to 25%, while the popularity of public transports was only picked by 5% less.
