The pie charts provide insights into the transportation preferences of Cambridge city residents across four different modes in 2008 and 2018.
Overall, in 2008, the majority of people favored automobiles over walking and cycling. However, by 2018, there was a noticeable shift away from motorized vehicles, with walking and cycling becoming the most preferred modes of transport.
In 2008, cars and buses were the most commonly used forms of transportation, accounting for 42% and 30% of total users, respectively. Combined, these two modes were chosen by 72% of the population. In contrast, walking and cycling were less popular, making up only about a third of the total transport usage.
A decade later, in 2018, walking and cycling saw a significant increase in popularity, taking the top two spots. Their usage had doubled compared to 2008, and together, they accounted for half of the total transportation choices.
