Overall, while some categories increased throughout the given period, others saw reverse of this trend. Garden, toilets, and washing experienced considerable decline while bathroom and kitchen surged.
Focusing first on the the year 1988, the largest percentage of water used for washing (25%). Domestic water use for garden and bathroom share roughly equal proportions. Their respective figures are 20% and 22%. The proportion of toilets (18%) exceeded that for kitchen (15%) by 3 percentage points.
As for 2008, tap water usage for the bathroom made up approximately double the share of the toilets with 28% and 14%. The kitchen (29%) accounted for a larger share compared to washing (22%). Among all the categories, the garden emerged as the least significant, contributed only 7% in home water use.
