The pie charts illustrate a typical propotion in staple dishes of three types of nutrients – sodium, saturated fat and added sugar-, all of which could be pose health risks when consumed excessively.
Overall, dinner accounts for the highest propotion of both sodium and saturated fat, whereas snacks contain the largest share of added sugar. By contrast, breakfast constantly makes up the smallest percentage of across all three nutrients.
Regarding sodium, dinner represents the largest share at 43%, followed by lunch at 29%. Breakfast and snacks are identical, both share at 14%. A similar trend can be seen for saturated fat : dinner again leads with 37%, followed by lunch at 26%. Snacks account for slightly less 21%, while breakfast makes up the least at 16%.
The distribution of added sugar, it is slightly different from other nutreints. Snacks are by far the biggest contributer, at 42%, almost double the figure for dinner at 23%. Lunch and breakfast contribute much smaller at 19%, and 16% respectively.
