Overall, the utilization of three categories of electrical appliances has climbed for a century, meanwhile the total of housework per week in each household gradually fell for a long time.
In the 1920s, the number of usage a washing machines, fridges, and vacuum cleaners were 40%, 0%, and 30% each. Refrigerators had a staggering rise from 0% in 1920 to 90% in 1960. In addition, slowly increased until 100% in 1980. The vacuum cleaner had a stable growth and increased by 100%. And washing machine had slightly reached 70%. However, from 1960 to 1980 had gradually declined from 70% to 62%.
On the other hand, the total hours spent on housework tasks have slowly decreased for year to year from 50% in the 1920s to 11% in 2019.
