The table compares males and females spent on recreational persuits per day and household activities in the UK in 2008. Overall, men spent generally more time on leisure activities than women, especially on TV, video and radio. While females were dominant in spending time on households, the reverse was true for men, with the exception of reparing.
Focusing first on the recreational persuits, most males and females spent 137 minutes and 118 minutes, respectively, on TV, video and radio. While men spent 18 minutes on reading in their free time, women recorded 19 minutes. Males spent more time on sport activities, with 15 minutes, compared to females with 11 minutes per day.
When it comes to household activities, women show the highest gap in cooking and washing, with around 70 minutes per day, compared to men with 30 minutes. More females spent approximately 35 minutes on going shopping than males with 23 minutes. However, more males engaged in repairing with 19 minutes, as opposed to females spending 10 minutes. Meanwhile, women spent much greater time on washing and ironing their clothes, with 30 minutes, than their counter parts, with 10 minutes.
