In 2003, Japan had the highest density with 338 people per square kilometer. The UK and Italy followed with 243 and 191 people per square kilometer, respectively. Sweden’s density was much lower, at only 20 people per square kilometer, while Australia and Canada both had the lowest figures, at just 3 people per square kilometer.
From 2003 to 2005, Australia’s population grew the most, rising by 1.42 percent, and Canada’s increased by 1.06 percent. Japan, the UK, and Italy saw smaller increases of 0.35 percent, 0.25 percent, and 0.11 percent respectively. Sweden was the only country with a decrease, as its population fell slightly by 0.1 percent.
