The bar charts depict how many European people were impacted by four various types of noise by day and by night in urban and rural areas in the year 2007. Generally speaking, it is apparent that traffic was overwhelmingly the main source of noise, followed by train, aircraft, and industry. Besides, traffic was the dominant category for most of the period.
It is explicitly observed that traffic noise in cities during the day and night was very common, affecting 64 million and 48 million residents, respectively. In addition, traffic noise was the leading category compared to other sources. Similarly, traffic noise in rural areas by day and night accounted for 34 million and 24 million people were affected, respectively. It is clear that traffic noise in cities was twice as high as countryside. Turning to noise from train in cities, 10 million individuals were influenced in day and 8 million at night. However, this data was lower than urban areas, with 8 million and 6 million dwellers.
Noise from aircraft in cities occupied 4 million and 1 million affected in 2007. Moreover, about 1 million and 0.25 million people were impacted by industry noise. Conversely, in rural areas, just 2 million and 1 million people were affected by flights and industry noise in rural areas , people were not affected.
