The charts compare how the percentage of electricity used by different sectors changed over time in Eastern Australia between 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the residential and commercial sectors dominated electricity consumption, with their shares remaining unchanged throughout the period. Notably, the figure for other metals increased markedly, while those for manufacturing and aluminum declined over the period.
In 2007, the residential sector accounted for 28% of total electricity consumption, making it the largest consumer. The commercial sector represented 23%, while manufacturing and aluminium each accounted for 13% of total consumption, followed by other metals at 12%. In contrast, mining accounted for a further 9%, whereas agriculture and transport each made up a mere 1%.
By 2010, the shares of residential and commercial sectors remained unchanged, at 28% and 23%, respectively. The proportion attributed to other metals increased considerably to 18%, making it the third-largest category. In contrast, manufacturing fell from 13% to 9%, while aluminium experienced a modest decline to 11%. The remaining sectors showed no change, with mining at 9% and both agriculture and transport at 1%.
