Overall, at the beginning of the period Japan had the highest percentage of man and women in employment in both years. While in Belgium in the 1970s, had the lowest percentage of both men and women in employment.
The percentage of man aged 60-64 in employment in Australia was 74% in 1970, but it had decreased to 47% by 2000.
The percentage of men in Japan was 84% in 1970, while after 30 years, it fell to 76%. The percentage of men in USA accounted for 73% in 1970 and fell to 55% in 2000. In Belgium, the percentage of men accounted for 79% in 1970, and there has been a significant decrease of 19% by the end of the period.
The percentage of women in Australia aged 60-64 in employment was 18% in 1970 and there was almost no change, with an increase of just 1% in 2000 in the same country. In Japan the percentage stood at 43% in 1970% but decreased slightly to 40% by 2000. In contrast, percentage of women in employment in the USA was 36% in 1970 and increased slightly to 38% in 2000. Belgium had a lower percentage of women in this age group, with 7% in 1970 and a small rise to 8% by 2000.
