The pie charts below demonstrate how much time did young and adult audience spent on different activities on the internet (excluding email) during their free time in Canada in 2010.
Overall, both adults and young people spent the same amount of time making purchases in the browser. It is clear that there was one least popular activity for each age group with making bookings for teenagers and playing games for other age group.
First of all, social networking ,researching, making purchases had no more than 3% difference between the age groups with 21% for the youth and 24% for adults respectively, 20% for the former age group and 22% for the letter age group respectively, 12% for both age groups.
Secondly, access to music and movies was more popular by 6% for the first age group that the second one making up 21% and 16% respectively. Booking appointments was the least popular activity for the younger generation with 5% of their time being dedicated to it, in comparison, the elderly people spent most of their time on the same activity that made up 25% of hours spent on the internet. Similarly, playing video games was more than 3 times popular among young people than adults with 18 and 5% respectively.
