In general, cars remained the most popular vehicles in Someland during this period. While SUVs experienced an increase in sales, the opposite was true for the purchase of cars.
According to the pie chart, in 1990, cars were the most purchased vehicles at 80 percent of total sales, while trucks and SUVs made up 15 and 6 percent, respectively. After one decade , SUVs sales skyrocketed fivefold and reached a peak of 30 percent while cars’ market share dropped to just over 50 percent . At the same time, the figure for trucks remained unchanged at around 15 percent.
At the end of the period, car purchases experienced a minor recovery of 4 percent, remaining the top preference among customers at nearly 60 percent total. Meanwhile, the percentage of SUVs sold dropped slightly by 2 percent while trucks’ market share saw no significant changes.
