The graphs highlight the amount of water used for various purposes across six regions around the world. Overall, it is clear from the graphs that agricultural use represents the largest share in four of the regions, while the remaining regions show a significant amount used for industrial purposes.
In terms of agricultural use, Central Asia, Africa, and Southeast Asia show the highest levels, with over 80% of water usage allocated for this purpose. In contrast, the other regions have agricultural use rates below 15% each. Additionally, South America has the highest proportion of domestic water use, while also experiencing a relatively high demand for agricultural use.
Regarding Europe and North America, these regions exhibit substantial industrial water usage, with both accounting for approximately half of the total water usage depicted in the graphs. Furthermore, Europe has similar levels of agricultural and domestic water usage, with only a 7% difference between the two categories, while North America shows just a 2% difference.
