The pie charts compare how a university allocated its income across six different areas in 2005 and 2015.
Overall, the largest proportion of income was spent on teaching and research in both years. However, spending on accommodation and libraries decreased over time, while financial support for students and administration and management costs increased noticeably.
In 1995, the proportion of expenditure on teaching and research ranked first, at 53%, and this was distantly followed by accommodation with 16%. Maintaining campuses third , at 10%, just same of Libraries came at 10%. While administration and management accounted for 6% of the total university budget, financial support for student amounted to half of that.
In 2015, some of these statistics were changed. Teaching and research remained its rank with a slightly decrease at 48%, while administration and management gradually increased at 16%. Money spend on accommodation gradually decreased by 8% and Maintaining campuses remained unchanged. University expend for Libraries saw a slight decrease by 5%, followed by Financial support for student experienced a gradual increase at 8%.
