The charts illustrate how much protein and calorie are consumed by people in four distinctive areas, including India, East Africa, Latin America and North America.
Overall, people from all areas consume below the optimal protein and calories intake, except for North Americans which consume much higher the thresholds. In addition, while North Americans utilize both protein and calories the most, Indians’ consumption is the least.
Looking at the first bar chart, animal protein intake of North Americans roughly doubles the corresponding figure for Latin Americans, at 62 and 32 respectively. In contrast, the gap in unspecified protein is much lower, at 18 and 13 respectively. Moreover, the animal intakes in India and East Africa are significantly lower the figures for two aforementioned areas, at 13 and 16 respectively. The figures for other protein intake are identical, at 15.
Regarding the second bar chart, North Americans consume calories much higher than the optimal threshold. Specifically, they consume around 3500 while the threshold is slightly below 3000. While the Latin Americans’ consumption is slightly under the ideal intake, which is around 2800, the figures for Indians and East Africans are significantly lower, at 2000 and about 2300 respectively.
