The two pie chart compare the proportions of employees with different qualifications in an advertising company, categorized by Science and Art fields, in an advertising company in two separate years, 1990 and 2010.
Overall, the percentage of staff with higher qualifications increased in most fields between 1990 and 2010, while the proportion of employees with a Master’s degree in Art decreased slightly. In addition, Ph.D. holders in Science became the largest group in 2010.
Starting with Science qualification, in 1990, Master-Science was the most popular, accounting for 29% of the workforce, followed by First Degree-Science and Ph.D.-Science with 20%, 13% respectively. By 2010, the proportion of Ph.D.-Science holders increased sharply to 30%, more than doubling over the period, making it the dominant qualification in the advertising company. In contrast, this figure of First Degree-Science decreased significantly to half in just 20 years at just 11%, while Master-Science remained relatively stable at its original figure of 29%.
Regarding Art qualifications, employees holding a First Degree in Art accounted for 15% in 1990; however, after two decades, this figure fell sharply to only 2%. Master’s degrees in Art were the most prevalent in 1990, at 21%, before rising slightly by around two percentage points to 23% in 2010. A similar upward trend was observed in Ph.D.-Art, which increased from 2% to 5% over the same period.
