The charts compare the percentages different types of qualifications in science and art across three levels, including first degree, doctor of phylosophy, and master, owned by employees working in a comercial firm in the years 1990 and 2010.
Overall, the rates of those having the PhD qualifications increased in both fields after 20 years, whereas other qualifications almost did not experience any upward trends, with the exception for those having master ones in art. It is also worth noting that the proportions of workers working in science were higher than that of their counterparts in art in both surveyed years.
Regarding figures showing increases, the rate for those having master qualifications in art was over one-fifth in 1990, higher than that of PhD-Science qualifications at 12%. However, the latter then underwent a significant increase to 30%, surpassing others to dominate the chart of 2010. Similarly but to a lesser extent, the former’s figure only experienced a 2-percent increase, rose slightly from 21% to 23% over the period. Meanwhile, the figures for those having PhD increased to 5% after 20 years, though it remained relatively minimal.
In terms of other qualifications, the percentages of workers owning first degree qualifications in science and art were 20% and 15%. In the final year, both of them nearly saw a 10-percent drop, reaching their points at 11% and 2%, respectively. Meanwhile, the proportion of employees having master qualifications remained unchanged in both years, starting and ending at 29%.
