The pie chart illustrates the origins of people working at top management level in South Africa, while the bar chart compares the same data between public and private sector, as a result of a report made in 2015 and 2016. It is clear that Caucasian ethnicity represented the larger part of private sector’s top managers in those years, while Africans are more present in public workplaces.
More than half of higher positions in South Africa were covered by White people (68.9%), followed by African race (14.3%) and Indians (8.3%). Only 4.70% of Coloured people were present at top management level and 3.5% come from foreign nations.
Comparing private and public sectors, it is clear that White people are largely present in the first one, with 72.4%, followed by Indians (8.70%) and Foreign nationals (3.60%). Meanwhile, public top management positions are mainly covered by Africans (73.2%), followed by Coloured ethnicity (7.40%).
