The pie chart illustrates the fraction of both of the world’s and timber in 5 different regions including South America, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.
Overall, it can be seen that a majority of trees are in Africa, but this region has the least proportion of timbers compared to other regions. However, North America possesses the highest amount of timber.
Africa has the largest percentage of forest at about 27% but the amount of timer is one of the lowest at 9%. North America has the second highest number of trees at 25% and this region has about 30% of the world’s timber, a significant amount.
Europe has the third largest forest at 18% and 20% of timer. Whereas, the second largest wood from South Africa is 23% but the forest is only about 16%. Asia has the lowest numbers in both trees and timber, with about 14% of the forests and 18% of the timber produced, which is relatively similar in quantity.
