The first bar chart illustrates the percentages of people in two different ranges of aged, buying theater, concert, and cinema tickets through the Internet in the first three months of 2006 in Australia, the UK, and Malaysia, while the second bar chart demonstrates the proportions of three different types of devices used to buy tickets from these countries in the same period.
Overall, it is evident that younger people in Australia and the UK bought tickets online more often than those of older people, while the opposite was observed in Malaysia. It is also noticeable that the desktop computer was the most popular access device in all the countries.
Looking at the details in the first bar chart, 55% of younger people (aged 25-44) in both Australia and the UK bought tickets online, which was higher than those of older people (aged 65+), at approximately 45% for the former and 40% for the latter. By contrast, the figure for older people in Malaysia was slightly higher than the figure for younger people (40% compared to 38%).
In terms of internet accessing devices, the desktop computer was the most frequently used access device in all countries, making up about 65% in Malaysia, 62% in the UK, and almost 60% in Australia. The percentages of people using laptops to purchase tickets in Australia and Malaysia were relatively similar, at 40% and 41%, respectively. Meanwhile, the corresponding figure in the UK stood at 30%. It can be seen that mobile phones were the least popular device in three countries, accounting for about 20% in both Australia and the UK, while constituting a much higher proportion (27%) in Malaysia.
