The chart depicts the mode of transportation people use to commute to a university between the period 2004 and 2009.
Overall, it is observed that most of the people were using cars in 2004 which changed to majority of people using buses in 2009.
In the year 2004, around 51% people used cars, 4% came by walking, 3% used train, 9% rode on bicycles and 33% came by bus to the university. On the other hand; in the year 2009, it is shown that cars usage declined to 28% and bus usage increased to 46%. While the percentage of people coming to university on bike and train inclined from 9 to 16% and 3 to 4% respectively. A 2% increase in people arriving to the university on feet, is also evident.
These changes have occurred due to the car parking charges imposed in the year 2006, which lead people to switch to less expensive options like walking, taking train and using bicycles. It is also declared that a new bus stop was established in the university in 2008, which resulted in increased use of bus as the mode of transportation.
