The pie charts illustrate the the composition of sales across the different types of new cars in Australia in three distinct years, 1994, 2004 and 2014.
Overall, the total quantity of cars and that of each vehicle types experienced a growth throughout the period recorded, with Sedans dominating the market. Additionally, while percentage of sale in sedan decreased, that of remaining categories increased throughout the period shown.
The year 1994 recorded a total of 42 900 vehicles sold, in which sedans ranked in the first place with 31 700 cars which were purchased , making up the vast majority of the pie chart ( 74%). There was 19% of unspecified types of car sold ( 8900 cars), which was higher than that of SUVs, constituting only 7% (3003 cars).
Regarding the year of 2004, although the number of sedans car sold rose to 44 000 , the market share of this type dropped relatively to 62%. Turning to remaining categories, both SUVs and unnamed types of car increased in proportion and numbers , which were 17% and 21% respectively.
In 2014, 43 000 sedans cars sold were recorded , still ranking at first despite of a drop of rate in this figure to half of the pie. In contrast, the market percentage of SUVs sky rocketed to 28%, exceeding that of others category (21%). Eventually, There was a total of 85 000 car sold.
