The pie graphs depict the distribution of new cars in three categories: SUVs, Sedans and other cars in separate years 1994, 2004 and 2014.
Overall, the number of sedans cars sold was the most prominent despite its significant drop in 2014. Meanwhile, the level of SUVs cars showed the most rapid rise and that of “others” cars rose slightly over the period. Notably, the total number and the proportion in all categories increased except for the share of Sedans, which declined throughout.
The 1994 witnessed a total level of 42900 cars sold, with 19% (8900 cars) of “others”, 7% (3003 cars) of SUVs and 74% (31700 cars) of Sedans.
In 2004, the quantity of “others” and SUVs cars increased slightly to 21% (25000 cars) and 17% (12000 cars), respectively, while that of Sedans cars decreased substantially to 62% (44000 cars). However, the total number recorded an upward trend with 71000 cars.
In 2014, “others” cars saw drop to 18000 in the number, accounting for the same percentage (21%). Similarly, the quantity of Sedans cars declined marginally by 1000 cars, taking up 51% of the total, whereas SUVs cars doubled to 28% (24000 cars). The total cars sold continuously rose to 85000.
