The line graph compares the sales of five different types of jam – strawberry, raspberry, grape, cherry, and plum – between 2009 and 2014.
Overall, strawberry jam consistently recorded the highest sales, while plum jam had the lowest figures throughout the period. Meanwhile, sales of raspberry, grape, and cherry jams showed an overall upward trend.
In 2009, the number of strawberry sales stood at about 3 million units, which steadily increased to roughly 4.5 million units. By 2012, this number have increased to 5 million units, before climbing further to 7 million units after 2 years. This was closely followed by raspberry, with 2.7 million units at the beginning of the chart and ending at just under 5 million sales. By contrast, grape had the lowest sales, at less than 1 million. After a long time period, the sales of grape jam hit a peak of approximately 3.3 million units by the end of the period.
Cherry and plum, on the other hand, showed fluctuating trends, with plum declining and cherry increasing. The sales of cherry jam fluctuated significantly, starting at just under 2 million units. They then increased before declining again to the same level of around 2 million. Afterwards, sales rose to 3 million units and remained relatively stable overall, despite some fluctuations, with a slight decrease towards the end. The sales of plum jam were about 2.4 million at the beginning of the period. From 2009 onwards, sales fell dramatically, reaching a low of zero in 2014.
