The four pie charts illustrate the proportions of people in three different age groups in Yemen and Italy in 2000 and their possible predictions for 2050.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that while the elderly make up the least share in Yemen, in Italy they rank second. Moreover, the figures for minors under 14 are significantly lower in Italy in comparison to Yemen in both years.
In 2000, 15-59-year-olds made up nearly half of the total in Yemen (46, 3%), which is roughly equal to the predicted number of Italians in 2050 (46,2%). Likewise, the experts forecast an expand by 11% for this age group in Yemen (57,3%) in 2050, which is close to the figure of the Italians in 2000 (61,6%).
While the eldest Yemenis account for a tiny fraction of 3,6% in 2000 and 5,7% in 2050, these figures are significantly bigger for Italy with one-fifth of the total (24,1%) in the former year and a possible double growth (42,3%) in the latter year. In contrast, the youngest age group makes up roughly a half (50,1%) in Yemen in 2000 and is predicted to decline by 13,1% in 2050, which is eight times as much of the Italians (14,3% and 11,5%, respectively).
