The pie chart and table provide data about transportation options in Edmonton and people’s reasons for using the car in the city, respectively.
Generally, it can be seen that people mainly use cars and the most common reason for this is commuting to work, while the least popular choices are bus and taxi.
Analyzing the pie chart, it is noticeable that most people use cars, making up 45% of usage, while LRT slightly behind with 35% of share. On the other hand, bus and taxi comprise only 10%, which is about 3 and 4 times less than former ones, respectively.
The table further explains why cars are more preferred transport over others. The primary reason is commuting for work, accounting for 55%, followed by business, the percentage of which is 10% less than the former one and picking up children from school, slightly less than the latter one. In contrast, shopping and leisure activities each make up only 15% of car usage. This suggests that cars are primarily used for daily tasks rather than for other activities.
