The diagram illustrates the series of stages involved in the production of jeans from cotton.
Overall, the process is man-made linear with eight consecutive steps, and involves five main stages: cotton cultivation and harvesting, fabric production, garment manufacturing, and global distribution. The process begins with its cultivation in Asia and concluding with the final product being sold to consumers in different parts of the world.
The initial three stages of the flow-chart happen in the cotton fields, starting with the cultivation of cotton in countries such as India and China, where water and fertilizers are applied to support growth. After approximately 3,5 months, the cotton plants mature and are harvested. The cotton is then separated into fibers, which are transported to a factory. At this stage, the fibres undergo a series oof treatment including washing, bleaching, and maybe added dying this process to enhance the fabrics’ elasticity. Subsequently, the yarn is warned into denim fabric at a textile factory.
In the next step, the denim fabric is sent to another factory, where it is cut sewn into jeans. Additionally, accessories such as buttons and zippers are attached to complete the garment. Once the jeans are ready, they are shipped to distribution centers in USA and Europe countries. Finally, the finished products are made available to consumers through both physical retail stores and online platforms, making the end of the production and distribution process.
