The chart illustrates the process of making potato chips. Overall, the procedure consists of several steps, beginning with the assessment of potato quality and ending with the packaging of the finished product.
Concerning the preparation steps, the process starts when a batch of potatoes arrives at a manufacturing plant, where they are checked for quality by the manufacturer’s staff. While the low-quality potatoes are discharged from the process, the qualified ones are kept for subsequent steps. The selected potatoes are washed in cold water, followed by the removal of peels and starch. Once the potatoes have been peeled, they are transferred to a slicer through a bucket conveyor, where they’re cut into thin slices. Before the frying stage, these slices are carried by a flat bed conveyor and dried with air to remove excess water.
Regarding the remaining steps, after being cooked in a deep fryer, a little salt is added to accentuate the flavor of these chips. The dried chips are transported via another flat bed conveyor to complete the final packaging process, where they are separated into either cans through a bulk can filler or bags through a bag packer.
