The diagram describes how the Australian Bureau of Meteorology collects and analyses the data, predicts the weather from the data, and transmits the forecasting to the audience. Overall, four stages are involved in the process, starting with collecting data and ending up in broadcasting.
The first step of this process is to collect the measurements in nature. This can be done through satellite pictures, radar tracking, and drifting buoys equipped with sensors.
The data from the measurement devices in nature are then unified and, subsequently, used as input for the computers. The computers will calculate, compare it to historical data, and recognize the pattern to create a fairly accurate prediction, which is used in broadcast.
There are multiple ways to transmit forecasting to its audience. That includes radio programs, TV channels, or recorded announcements. All available means of communication are used to ensure that the information will reach a large number of the audience.
