The maps illustrate the development of a coastal town called Pentland between 1950 and 2007.
Overall, the coastline town was developed comprehensively, the significant transformation was the rural area which was dominated by grassland bustling coastal resort town. While a road system expanded, the retail, leisure services and modern housing added more and more to modernize the area.
Looking at the leisure and commercial hub, the industrial site was removed to build a creation of recreational facilities, which was located in the north-western of the map. In detail, this infrastructure accommodated a new park accompanied by a swimming pool. An original surface car park was in the east, it was later replaced and widened to the west to become a multi-storey car park. In 2007, the improvement of retail facilities was added by a row of shops.
The residential and entertainment zone situated in the east of the diagram. The grassland was replaced by shops and cinema. While the high-density housing was located in the northeast, the opposite side was seen in the low-density one. It is clearly seen that multi-storey apartments were constructed near the sea, and two rows of houses accessed the road system.
