The two maps illustrate the development of a specific area from 1965 to the present day.
Overall, the area has undergone significant urbanisation, marked by the construction of modern infrastructure such as apartment blocks, car parks and bridges, while the town of Assford has remained largely unchanged.
In the northern part of the area, substantial changes can be observed. The group of trees formerly located in the north-western corner was removed to make way for a car park. In addition, apartment blocks were constructed in the north, while a second car park was added nearby. On the opposite side of the river, the residential area was expanded, with a noticeable increase in the number of houses.
Even more dramatic developments occurred in the southern section. The original road was transformed into a city road bridge crossing the river, significantly improving connectivity. Furthermore, the ferry service in the south was replaced by a footbridge, and new houses were built in this area, accompanied by an additional car park.
